Sharing Our Strengths (SOS) is a FREE program that connects you to another parent, family member or individual who knows what it’s like to experience or care for a child who has a similar disability or special health care need.
Whether you have questions or concerns about handling your child’s needs or navigating your own feelings, you are not alone. We have been there. Let us be there for you. A SOS mentor is a parent or individual who has had experiences or concerns similar to those you are having now. Your SOS mentor is there for you to talk to and share your feelings, frustrations and celebrations. They are there to listen with an open heart and mind. Remember, they have had experiences similar to yours.
“We feel like we are on an island … having a mentor helps us feel like we are not alone. It makes life more manageable.”
